Everything You Need to Know About Using Your EBT Card on Prime Day 2025
Prime Day is back, running from July 5 to July 21, 2025! This year, there's exciting news for those who use
SNAP EBT or Cash EBT cards: you can use them to shop on Amazon during this big sale event.
Amazon's introduced a program called Amazon Access. It's designed for people getting SNAP EBT benefits, letting them buy groceries online—including from Amazon Fresh, Prime Pantry, and Whole Foods—without needing an Amazon Prime membership.
What's Amazon Access? And How Does EBT Work With It?
If you're a SNAP participant, you can sign up for a discounted Amazon Prime membership at just $6.99 a month, down from the usual $14.99. This gives you all the standard benefits of Prime.
During Prime Day, anyone with a SNAP EBT can pay for EBT-eligible groceries directly on Amazon, Amazon Fresh, and Whole Foods with their card.
Planning to buy in other departments, like electronics or toys? Just add a credit/debit card or use your Amazon balance for those purchases.
How to Use Your EBT Card on Amazon This Prime Day:
- Navigate to the SNAP EBT section under Amazon Access.
- Enter your card details (number and PIN).
- Make sure your cart has items marked as "SNAP EBT eligible."
- At checkout, select EBT for those items and pick another payment method for everything else. Remember, EBT won't cover shipping or tips.
Current EBT customers on Amazon should check their account settings before Prime Day to ensure everything's up-to-date and that their cart matches their needs.
Amazon Access enables shopping for food on Amazon Fresh, Prime Pantry, and Whole Foods without a Prime membership for those on SNAP EBT. Keep in mind, only eligible food items can be purchased with an EBT card.
Shipping might be free or come at a cost, depending on your cart's total. While EBT can cover eligible groceries, consider taking advantage of Prime Day's other deals by paying with a different method.
If you tend to buy plenty of groceries, snacks, and other food items, getting a Prime Access membership for $6.99 a month could be worth it during
Prime Day.
