McDonald’s Brings Back $5 and $8 Extra Value Meals

With fast food prices rising, McDonald’s is bringing back its popular Extra Value Meals across the United States.

Starting Monday, September 8, customers can buy full combo meals for just $5 or $8—a move aimed at helping people save money and attracting low-income customers.

What’s Included in the $5 Combo?

The $5 combo is available for breakfast and comes with:

  • A Sausage McMuffin with Egg
  • Hash Browns
  • Small Coffee

If you buy these items separately, you would spend over 15% more, so the combo saves you money.

What’s in the $8 Combo?

The $8 combo is available for lunch and dinner and includes:

  • A Big Mac
  • Medium Fries
  • Medium Soft Drink

New deals are also coming in November, like a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets combo for $8 and a Sausage, Egg & Cheese McGriddles combo for $5.

Other Ways to Save at McDonald’s

McDonald’s continues to offer other money-saving options on its McValue menu, including:

  • The $5 Meal Deal (McDouble or McChicken, small fries, 4 McNuggets, and a small drink)
  • Buy one, get another for $1 on certain items like McChicken, Double Cheeseburger, Hash Browns, and McMuffins
  • Exclusive app offers, like free fries on Fridays with a minimum $1 purchase

Note on Prices

While these prices are set nationally, individual restaurants can adjust them based on their area. McDonald’s says it's working with franchise owners to keep prices affordable and even offers some financial help to make this possible.

Bottom Line

With the return of the Extra Value Meals and other deals, McDonald’s is hoping to win back customers by making it easier to enjoy their favorite menu items without spending too much.

If you’re in the U.S., you can look forward to these savings soon—both at the restaurant and through the McDonald’s app.
