How to Check If You Won the 2025 Visa Lottery
The results for the
2025 Diversity Visa Lottery (also known as the Green Card Lottery) are now available for people who applied between October and November 2023.
How to Check Your Results
To see if you were selected, follow these steps:
1. Go to the official State Department website:
www.dvprogram.state.gov
2. Enter the required information:
- The confirmation number you received when you registered.
- Your last name (spelled exactly as you entered it when you signed up).
- Your year of birth (use all four digits).
- The authentication code shown on the page.
3.
Click the "Submit" button: The website will let you know if you were selected.
When You Can Check
- You can check your results from May 4, 2024, until September 30, 2025.
- If you win, you can only initiate the visa process during fiscal year 2025 (October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025).
- After this period, you lose your chance for the visa.
What Happens If You Win
- If you are chosen, you will get instructions on how to apply for an immigrant visa for yourself and your eligible family members.
- You will need to:
- Complete the DS-260 form online.
- Prepare for an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
- At the interview, officials will decide whether your visa is approved.
- Important: Being chosen does not guarantee you will get a green card. It only means you can begin the application process.
Lost Your Confirmation Number?
- You can recover your confirmation number on the same official website.
- To find it, you must provide:
- The year you applied
- Your first and last names
- Date of birth
- Email address
- The authentication code shown on the page
Watch Out for Scams
- The U.S. State Department says results are only available on the official website.
- They do not send notifications by email, text, or phone.
- There are no authorized intermediaries to tell you your results.
- Ignore anyone who asks for money or tries to contact you about the lottery outside of the official website.
